Who's Who

Steven C. Anderson (Director) is the Artistic Director of the Phoenix Theatre for Children. He has created plays for and with Central Ohio children for the past thirty years. His directing credits include Children of a Lesser God, Greater Tuna, and Assassins (Players Theatre Columbus), Love! Valour! Compassion!, and The Taste of Sunrise (CATCO), and Hair and Candide (The Ohio State University). Steven recently directed bilingual (ASL and spoken English) productions of The Secret Garden (co-produced with CAPA, Phoenix Theatre for Children and Opera Columbus) and The Miracle Worker.

Emma Lou Andrews (Isabelle) is a 5th grader at Indianola K-8. She has appeared in several shows with the Davis, including Isabella e la Bestia and Seussical. She was most recently a munchkin in the Wizard of Oz with CCT. When she is not on stage, she enjoys drawing and sewing.

Grace Ann Babcock (Kate) is excited to be making her public stage debut with Madeline's Christmas. She has been acting for fun on her "home stage" and in drama class recitals since preschool. Today, you have helped Grace fulfill her dream of acting in a show where the audience buys tickets. Thank you!

Joe Bishara (Director) is The Production Coordinator for The Phoenix and previously served as an Artist Educator/Acting Company member for The Phoenix from 2000-2002. Since his initial tour of duty with PTC, Joe has worked as an Actor, Director, Producer, and Administrator at regional theatres across the Midwestern United States. Joe holds a degree in Vocal Performance from Ohio Wesleyan University and was most recently seen performing in SRO's production of Rogers and Hammerstein's A Grand Night for Singing.

Kristin Blascyk (Accompanist), a recent graduate of OSU's School of Music, is making her PTC debut. She has musically directed two "Best Musicals" winners: Hedwig and the Angry Inch (The Other Paper) and Parade (Roundtable), as well as the Ohio premiere of RENT. Special thanks to husband David for his continued support.

Ruth Boyd (Costume Designer) served as Costume Designer for The Phoenix Theatre for Children's first production and has been designing for PTC ever since.

Aaron Choi (Monsieur Brun/ Harsha), an Equity Membership Candidate, is excited to be performing with the Phoenix Theatre for Children. Other credits include: Wizard of Oz (Nikko), Peter Pan (Pirate), Parade (Ivey & Others), Anything Goes (John), Twelfth Night (Feste), Drood! (Bazzard), and The Music Man. Aaron Holds a B.A. Music/B.A. Theatre from Capital University. LMDSS.

Penny Dow (Camille) is a 4th Grader at Edison Intermediate in Grandview. Penny loves to perform and had her first acting class when she was just 3 years old. She is particularly proud of her role as Thomas Edison's mother in the Inventor's Hall of Fame. This is Penny's first big show!

Whitney Thomas Eads (Choreographer) This is Whitney's first PTC performance experience. She graduated from Hope College with a B.A. in Theatre (Acting, Directing) while continuing her dance education. Whitney has had an active role in Educational Outreach Arts working with such organizations as Junior Players, Theatre Action Project, OAAE, and Big Thought's Creative Solutions.

Anna Katarina Haught (Mary) is a 4th grader at Winterset Elementary who lives to sing. She loves music theatre; Wicked is her favorite show. She enjoys sports, such as softball, swim team, cheerleading, and karate (she is a red belt). Anna wants to be a professional performer and plans to be on Broadway.

Kim Garrison Hopcraft (Miss Clavel) has been singing professionally since the age of 13, and has been studying voice and performing in professional theatre for more than 20 years. Locally, she has performed with Available Light Theatre, Actor's Theatre, Curtain Players, Gallery Players and Columbus Children's Theatre. Favorites include, Mother in Ragtime, Betty Rogers in Will Rogers Follies, Irene Roth in Crazy For You, Anna in The King and I. Kim also played Alaura Kingsley in the National Tour of City of Angels.

Eva Chan House (Anne) is in third grade at Indianola Informal K-8. This is her first show with Phoenix Theatre. In her free time, she enjoys singing, dancing, reading, and acting. Eva would like to thank her mom, dad, and grandpa for their support

Taryn Jennifer Huffman (Madeline) is a third grade homeschooled student from Powell, Ohio. She is a member of Be3 Jr. Musical Theater Company, and dances at BalletMet and Douce Dance. Taryn recently performed in Opera Columbus's Pagliacci, and is thrilled to be making her Phoenix debut in the role of Madeline.

Pam Welsh-Huggins (Music Director/Mrs. Murphy) has worked as a concert soloists, liturgical musician, composer, arranger, theatrical music director, and choral conductor. Her most recent stage role was as Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors- a role she practiced by homeschooling her 3 kids over the course of 13 years.

Darin Keesing (Lighting Designer) is delighted to serve as Lighting Designer for The Phoenix 09/10 season after designing the lighting for The Miracle Worker and Many Moons last season. Darin has over 60 lighting and scenic design credits in Chicago, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire, and designed the lighting for CATCO's The Seafarer, running in Studio 1 through December 13.

Jane Kundu (Simone) is 10 years old and lives in Columbus, OH with her parents and two younger brothers. She attends 5th grade in the Worthington school district. Her favorite activities include swimming, reading and playing with friends. Madeline's Christmas is her first production.

Nichola Lampe (Dominque) is an 11 year old sixth grader at Columbus Academy. She lives in Worthington with her parents and older sister, Kristin. She has enjoyed attending Phoenix performances and summer camps for many years. Nichola wishes to thank her family for supporting her and Steven and Pam for their encouragement.

Amelia Naille (Amy), a 5th grader at Edison Middle School, has performed extensively with Imaginating Dramatics and just played the Jester in Many Moons. She worked with Steven last year during a playwriting project. Amelia loves to sing, play the piano, and draw. She's excited about her role, Amy (also her real nickname!)

Caroline Smyth (Juliette), a 7th grader at Phoenix Middle School, was Veruca Salt in her school's production of Willy Wonka Jr. She's taken acting classes at Columbus Children's Theater and the Dublin Recreation Center. She was a member of the Columbus Children's Choir, enjoys playing and writing music, and loves all things French.

Avery Stump (Daphne), an 8th grader at Village Academy, is active in theater, dance, singing, and modeling. Past shows include Peter Pan; Wizard of Oz; Annie; Rikki Tikki Tavi, and Oliver. She's a Voice of the City finalist and part of Be3. Avery's the daughter of Kevin and Tonya and has three siblings.

Allison Walker (Stage Manager) a 2006 OSU alum, was an '07-'08 CATCO fellow and has since stage managed their Capote holiday show and 2009 Gala. Other credits include OSU's Opera Program, Davis Center, Columbus Children's Theatre, Gallery Players, Available Light Theatre, and the Club Theatre Company. Her gratitude, as always, to her parents.

Victoria Washington (Regine) is excited to be making her debut with The Phoenix Theatre for Children. Previously, Victoria has performed in school and church productions. Some of her other interests include soccer, singing, and swimming. Victoria would like to thank her family for all their love and support.
