Who's Who
Steven C. Anderson (Artistic Director) is the Founder and Artistic Director of The Phoenix Theatre for Children. He has created plays for and with central Ohio children for more than 30 years. Credits include Children of a Lesser God, Greater Tuna, and Assassins (Players Theatre); Love! Valour! Compassion! and The Taste of Sunrise (CATCO); and Hair and Candide (The Ohio State University). Steven recently directed two award-winning, bilingual productions-The Secret Garden (co-produced with CAPA and Opera Columbus) and The Miracle Worker.
Jacqueline S. Bates (Mrs. Piggle Wiggle) is delighted to reprise her role as the imaginative Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, having portrayed her in PTC's 2002 production. She has performed in many productions for PTC including The Paper Bag Princess and The Trees of the Dancing Goats. She has also performed with CATCO, Red Herring, and Actors' Theatre.
Ruth Boyd (Costume Designer) served as Costume Designer for The Phoenix Theatre for Children's very first production and has been designing for PTC ever since.
Stephanie Gerckens (Scenic Designer) is pleased to revive her scenic design for Mrs. Piggle Wiggle. She has designed other Phoenix productions including Kabuki Sleeping Beauty, Winnie the Pooh, and Many Moons. Her designs can also be seen in CATCO's current production of Evie's Waltz. Otterbein College invited her to teach a design class this quarter.
Darin Keesing (Lighting Designer) is delighted to serve as Lighting Designer for the Phoenix 2009-10 season after designing for The Miracle Worker and Many Moons last season. Darin has over 60 lighting and scenic design credits in Chicago, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire, and has also designed for CATCO's The Seafarer and Available Light Theatre's Pride and Prejudice.
Michelle G. Schroeder (EMC) is excited to return to the Phoenix! Favorite roles include A Year with Frog and Toad (Snail), You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (Sally), and Go Dog, Go! (Hattie). Michelle is a founding member of Available Light Theatre and mother to Eleanor, Gromit, and Jack.
Ian Short has performed with the Phoenix in Many Moons, The BFG, and Aladdin. He has also performed with CATCO and Actors' Theatre, and spent 10 years in New York City doing television and stage work. Ian is a member of Available Light Theatre and a graduate of Otterbein College.
Christopher Storer has performed in numerous Phoenix productions including The Paper Bag Princess (Prince Ronald), The Secret Garden (Colin/Lt. Wright), You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Schroeder), The Wind in The Willows (Rat), Seussical (Wickersham), and The Reluctant Dragon (Boy). Recently, he also performed in SRO's Christmas, My Way.
Allison Walker (Stage Manager), a 2006 OSU alum, served as a fellow for CATCO in the 2007-08 season and has since stage managed their Capote holiday show and their 2009 and 2010 galas. Other credits include OSU's opera program, Davis Center, Columbus Children's Theatre, Gallery Players, Available Light Theatre, and the Club Theatre Company. Her gratitude, as always, to her parents.
Liz Wheeler holds a BFA in acting with a musical theatre emphasis from Wright State. She has performed with The Commonwealth Shakespeare Company of Boston, The Human Race Theatre, and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. She recently won two "Excellence in Acting" awards from The Theatre Roundtable. Liz thanks Katie, Nora, and Anna.
